Take away the stone

Take away the stone
John 11:39

Many a times we are faced with seemingly hopeless situation. Our community seems to be best at defining the nitty gritty of the situation. Even our common sense tells us why we should give up. Jesus was faced with a similar situation. He told them, “Take away the stone, “but what response does he get, “Lord by this there is a stench, for he has been dead four days. ” If Jesus could get this kind of response,  the Son of God, that was known to have wrought miracles and wonders among the people, how much more we as individuals.

The world will always want to convince you why you can’t make it, why you are doomed,  why you cannot get a job, why cannot excel, why will die in poverty, why you cannot succeed in that endeavor. It will give you reasons, but you can learn from Jesus our lord, he didn’t try to argue with them, he didn’t make them see anything, he didn’t even try to tell them he was a Christian as some would have claimed or that he was the son of God, he simply quote the word.

Hallelujah!  Jesus quote the word, “Did i not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?”  He wasn’t even moved by whatever reasons Martha had given him or what science has to say ,neither was he moved by what the so-called “sane” people would have tagged him. He was not thinking otherwise, his heart was fixed on the word of God. A lot would have thought otherwise  and would have discarded the idea of praying in the public, trying not to fall our hands if nothing happened.

Jesus was not trying God’s power, he wanted to manifest it. A lot of pastor would have said something like this, “am just going to try to wake him up with my prayers “, it doesn’t work like that. Moreover, he didn’t pray in out of fear or anxiety.  Let’s take a look at his prayers,
“Father, i thank you that you have heard me. And I know that you always hear me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that you sent me,.. Lazarus come forth! ”

What a prayer of someone who knows the power embedded in the word, and who knows his authority, who knows how to use it. He wasn’t praying ceremoniously, he simply prayed a prayer of faith that was rooted in the word of God.
What is that thing you’ve been so sure was hopeless, rise up today and roll away the stone, people, family members, neighbors or friends might be doubting your sanity, in as much as you have the word to back you up, all you need is a fixed heart on God, and declared with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth!
Yours Faithfully,
